Studio 3 Arts

Celebrating 30 years of socially-engaged, co-created art

Volunteering with Studio 3 Arts

Our volunteers are the real heart of Studio 3 Arts. As a community-focused organisation, we couldn’t do our work even half as well, if it wasn’t for the support, knowledge, passion and commitment of our team of volunteers.

Our volunteers mean a lot to us- we are really grateful that people would consider sharing their time and skills with us.

Ranging in age from 14 to 87, our volunteers support not only the day-to-day life of the company, but they also support the care of the venue and the delivery of our portfolio of arts projects.  Current volunteers include:

Frank, 56, helping with our garden

Rochelle, 29, helping with admin and data entry

Glen, 47, assisting with family arts workshops

Jo, 21, supporting with our junior dance club

Current volunteer opportunities available now:

Events Hosts

We’ve got a busy programme of events, from dance shows to gallery private views and private functions.  It’s all hands on deck!

  • Helping to run the Box Office – taking tickets and money and ensuring everyone is signed in
  • Ushering duties – selling programmes, being a point of contact for audience members
  • Helping to sell refreshments and merchandise
  • Helping to make sure that all our health and safety procedures are in place
  • Making sure people fill out evaluation forms at the end
  • Helping to make sure that visitors treat the building well
  • Hours: ad hoc, based on our programme of events, but mostly evenings and weekends

Gardening Team

We’re in the middle of turning our garden into a Pocket Park for the local community.  We’d love your help with this project!

Bookings Team (Volunteer-led project)

S3A is looking for 2 volunteers to work together to design and manage a system for the promotion and bookings of the rooms available for hire at our venue.  Tasks to focus on would likely include:

  • Spreading the word about the rooms for hire – through letter, leaflet, word of mouth, meetings, guided visits, social media etc
  • Co-ordinating the bookings – meeting hires, filling in paperwork, booking catering etc
  • Ensuring that external hires treat the venue carefully and responsibly
  • Ensuring that all paperwork is filed accurately
  • Hours: 10-1pm and 2pm-5pm,Monday to Friday (we imagine that this would take about 10-15 hours per week)

Community Café Assistants

We are hoping to launch a Friday Community Café, with teas and coffees and cakes (made by our catering group from The Maples) on sale.  There will be bingo too!  Some of our local neighbours have offered to help out too.

  • Selling drinks and cakes
  • Keeping the place clean and tidy
  • Playing bingo!
  • Cashing-up at the end of the day

All of our volunteers receive a free DBS check, specific training and expenses.   Contact us to find out more.
