Arts Council CEO Drops In To Studio 3 Arts
Studio 3 Arts was delighted to open its doors to Darren Henley, Chief Executive of Arts Council England this week.
During the course of an afternoon visit, Artistic Director Liza Vallance took Mr Henley and his ACE colleagues Richard Edwards and Shira Hess on a tour of Studio 3 Arts HQ and our facilities including our rehearsal/performance space, Studio KM, our volunteer-run community garden and our Boundary Road Gallery currently featuring a solo show by fine artist Mervenil Emiroglu. Liza used the tour as an opportunity to brief Mr Henley on Studio 3 Arts’ pioneering work in the region, and the impact of our role as an ACE National Portfolio Organisation.
Afterwards, Studio 3 Arts Chair, staff, volunteers and participants and the Programme Team from our allied project, Creative Barking and Dagenham discussed with Mr Henley our continuing work in the Barking and Dagenham borough, the barriers/obstacles we encounter as an arts charity, our growth since forming nearly thirty years ago and our fantastic ambitions for the future, to ensure that Barking and Dagenham is celebrated as a cultural destination.
Mr Henley heralded the efforts of Studio 3 Arts and Creative Barking & Dagenham in producing a diverse, locally-relevant and dynamic arts offer, created with, by and for local people.
Everyone at Studio 3 Arts would like to thank Darren Henley for visiting us and look forward to welcoming him again soon.
