Early Years

  • Sim Stories

Sim Stories is a creative engagement project for early years provision. Originally commissioned by a Local Authority Engagement Team, we have developed a creative consultation workshop for 0-5 year olds.

The workshop was initially designed to consult with children in local authority children’s centres and nurseries about their experiences at the provision, and the links between the provision and family life.  The workshop uses puppetry, storytelling and drama to explore children’s attitudes, opinions and suggestions.

Our early Years specialist artists have to date toured ten centres and worked with over 100 children aged between 10 months and 5 years.  The findings of the consultation were analysed and developed into a comprehensive report that was distributed to all local children’s centre managers.  Following this, our artists designed and delivered training to children’s centre nursery staff.

The training package we devised for nursery staff explored ways to use creativity to enrich the delivery of the Early Years Framework curriculum, specifically around puppetry and drama.  The workshop and training package is now being rolled out across London, and is available for booking.
