Featuring the work of local young artists, in and around Gascoigne Estate, Barking. This cross-artform exhibition provides an opportunity to view the creative energy that has built over the years. Unlocking the ways in which many young people express their creativity while attempting to confront, highlight and question life on the council estate.
Boundary Road Gallery is Barking and Dagenham's first contemporary art gallery presenting the work of artists from all over the world. It has been developed to profile a range of visual artworks, made by artists from across the borough and beyond. Providing a local community setting for Barking and Dagenham residents to see inspiring and exciting artwork on their doorstep. The Gallery is run, curated and managed by local volunteers and artists.
'The exhibition will show what art is today, what it is now, and what it means for young people that live in and around the estate. It will explore the creative interaction that young people have with life on the council estate and also the issues that is faced using art. creative people have lived here and many still do. The exhibition could be considered as an ode to the people that have created, creating and continue to do so irrespective of their circumstance.'
