Barking is the place to be for free family entertainment. Join us at The Broadway Theatre on  Saturday 13 January for a FREE screening of the animated film comedy Rio, followed by an afternoon of arts and craft at Studio 3 Arts – and it’s all totally FREE!

10am: Free Rio film screening at The Broadway, Barking IG11 7LS
12 noon – 2pm: Lunch with Avril’s Platters at Studio 3 Arts, Boundary Road
2pm – 5pm: Free arts and crafts at Studio 3 Arts, Boundary Road, Barking, IG11 7JR

Studio 3 Arts' monthly open-mic poetry night for poets, non-poets and kinda poets alike moves down the road to The Broadway Theatre Bar & Cafe. 

Come along and perform your own work, recite a poem by your favourite writer or just bask in some good sounds and delicious words!

Inspiral Festival: ‘Explorations Along the Roding River

Friday 13 11am-1pm,  From Barking Station we take a Walking Tour on the Barking stretch of Inspiral Trail, finishing with a personal encounter with Gascoigne Estate led by local artist/poet John Akinde. This exploration is followed by lunch at Studio 3 Arts. Book tickets with lunch for £6 @ inspirallondon.com

Inspiral Festival 2017 – Kent Connections offers four days of curated walks, art, talks and exploration within London and North Kent celebrating the completion of the Inspiral trail. At over 300 miles this unique artist designed trail explores and exposes the unique connections that crisscross the Metropole. Connections and dissonances that range across an extraordinary diversity of people, places and ideas.

A festival celebrating the River Thames in Barking and Dagenham

Barking and Dagenham will come alive with a bumper programme of free arts and activities for all to enjoy. Immerse yourself in an extraordinary cardboard world, enjoy three performances from the world-famous Royal Opera House and James Wilton Dance, join us on a Silk River storytelling journey and Alice on her adventures in Wonderland, or sit back and enjoy the local craft, food and drink stalls.

There will be plenty of opportunities for community participation on the day too with local groups bringing their own making activities.

This year, ThamesFest runs over two days: day one will be at the Rivergate Centre (Saturday) and day two will be Silk River (Monday), Barking and Dagenham's part of a international arts walk relay. MORE >>>
