Studio 3 Arts

Celebrating 30 years of socially-engaged, co-created art

The Boundary Road Gallery is the borough’s first contemporary art gallery and presents the work of contemporary artists from all over the world.

It’s long been our ambition that our borough becomes a force to be reckoned with as far as arts and culture is concerned. The Boundary Road Gallery will help us achieve this, and give local people a new opportunity to see amazing visual arts, right on their doorstep.

The Gallery has an ambitious programme of art exhibitions that is curated and managed by a team of dedicated local artists and volunteers.

Open Submission 2017

Studio 3 Arts are delighted to announce an Open Call for submissions for the Boundary Road Gallery’s first Summer Exhibition.

Studio 3 Arts are marking their 30th birthday year, with an outstanding creative programme of exhibitions and artist residencies in the gallery, that shine a light and celebrate local artists and work created in response to the borough and its residents. The exhibition is a great opportunity and time to bring together a really diverse range of work that represents and celebrates what is happening in the arts in the borough right now.

Applications are open to everyone, regardless of age or previous experience. Artist can submit up to two artworks which the gallery panel will select from. Visual arts, crafts, photography, sculpture and outdoor artwork for the garden would all make welcome entries.

The exhibition will run from 12 – 30 June, with a public Summer Garden Party and Private View on Saturday 17th June 12pm-6pm.

Entry closes for all submission on Sunday 23rd April. Application forms and details can be requested at or downloaded here.

As the Gallery programme continues to progress, we are always on the look out for exciting and dynamic contemporary artists to exhibit their work with us. If you are interested in collaborating with us, or offering your skills and time as party gallery team, please contact for more information.

I was initially looking for a venue but it was not until I met with the S3A team back in January that I could begin to see this as a work I could share. I was immediately impressed by the goals and expectations of the S3A people and by bringing this work to Barking I was saying to myself that I didn’t need the comfort of an Art School to explore these ideas
