20th Anniversary

2007/08 marked Studio 3 Arts’ 20th Anniversary, and the organisation used the landmark as an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the past, review its mission and look forward to another successful 20 years. On 29 November 2007 Studio 3 Arts hosted a celebratory event at the Visual Art & Architecture Building at the University of East London, which provided an ideal setting to bring a wide range of partners, funders, participants and supporters together.  The event proved extremely successful, with speeches from the Chief Executive of Barking & Dagenham and the Cabinet Member for Culture in Havering, along with high attendance from strategic partners as well as participants and supporters.

The anniversary was marked by a series of projects including a DVD installation and large-scale exhibition developed in partnership with volunteers from the North East London Foundation Trust (NELFT).

20:20 Vision (Exhibition) - Studio 3 Arts worked in partnership with NELFT to develop a photographic exhibition that reflected the work undertaken during the anniversary year.  A group of adult volunteers from NELFT’s ‘Think Arts’ programme photographed a series of projects undertaken in 2007, along with iconic public art produced by the organisation over the past 20 years.  The volunteers then curated the exhibition as part of Studio 3 Arts’ anniversary celebrations at the University of East London.

DVD - Studio 3 Arts used the context of its 20th anniversary to develop a DVD that reflects on its projects, participants and partnerships and demonstrates the value of its work to the communities served.  The DVD is now used as a profile raising and marketing tool, particularly when establishing partnerships, hosting public events and undertaking fundraising activities.

Both projects were launched at the celebratory event alongside a performance room curated by young people from the Big Deal 07 project and a reminiscence installation by ex-Studio 3 Arts staff and Board.
